Byron Gray is the Youth Manager at the Spot. He has been working with The Spot since its inception and spends most of his days ensuring the safety and operation of the facility. This includes, but is not limited to working with youth, partners, community residents, funders, and other stakeholders.
Byron is a college graduate, and has continued to expand his education through various academic institutions and programs, including university courses, trainings, and professional development programs. He feels very strongly in continuous growth and learning, whether it is in a classroom or through lived experience, He believes that educational attainment is key.
“I feel as though The Spot chose me. I never envisioned what The Spot became nor did I think I would be here to see it to this point. Being able to support the youth, community, and staff is an honour that I do not take lightly. Being an influence to young people is truly awe-inspiring and humbling. I take that very seriously.”
“One of the things that stands out most for me is the potential and resiliency that I see in youth that I meet every day. They are the ones that remind me of why The Spot exists.”
“Live as if you were to die tomorrow. Learn as if you were to live forever.”
