EarlyON Centre
In the past fiscal year, the EarlyON Centre resumed numerous in-person programs and fostered collaborations with various community organizations, notably the Yorkwoods Library. Throughout the year, we had the pleasure of welcoming Humber College ECE students who actively contributed to the delivery of our programs.
This year, there was a notable surge in demand for programs centered around Kindergarten preparation, social interaction and speech and language development. We successfully offered a diverse array of public health workshops, revived our popular Glow Summer Camp and conducted two highly successful sessions of the parenting program, 'Nobody's Perfect.'
Thanks to the generous support of KidsUp Front, families had the opportunity to partake in excursions to the ROM, Ontario Science Centre, AGO, Pirate Life adventures, Blue Jays and Raptors games and a captivating Piano Four Hands Show. The Dave Page Book Bank made several generous donations of books to enrich our resources.
During the 2022 Adopt-A-Family program, we managed to raise over $10,000, providing support to 23 families, ranging from single seniors to a family of seven. Additionally, we received numerous donations, including furniture, essential household items and winter clothing, which benefited an additional 40 families. Beyond this program, we organized various giveaways of new and gently used clothing to assist working residents and families with children.
To reinforce our commitment to food security initiatives, we continued our bi-weekly Food Bank, serving families in need with invaluable support from FoodShare. Starbucks further demonstrated their generosity by donating food items to our facility three days a week.
Looking ahead to the 2023-24 programming year, we remain dedicated to collaborating with experts specializing in various focus areas to address the evolving needs of families within our community. Our team includes lactation specialists, parent-child educators, a Toronto Public Health nurse, a community dietitian, an early childhood consultant and more, all working in unison to provide comprehensive support to our community's families.
