Settlement
In the fiscal year 2022/2023, our Settlement team achieved a successful return to on-site programming, effectively addressing the challenges imposed by the pandemic. In addition to providing comprehensive support to over 4000+ newcomers through individual assistance, group programming and uniquely curated settlement plans, we have continued to offer hybrid services to ensure our outreach is both extensive and responsive to the evolving needs of newcomers. Our programs have played a pivotal role in fostering connections and community among newcomers and citizens alike, serving as a platform for the transfer of intergenerational knowledge and skills across diverse newcomer populations.
Our settlement team continues to support diverse and equity-seeking newcomers, tailoring our efforts to meet the specific language needs of these demographics. Through information and referrals, we facilitate access to crucial community and government resources while providing navigation support for settlement-related challenges. This year, our team has been able to adapt to changing circumstances, cultivate strategic partnerships and celebrate achievements, such as over 25 newcomers successfully passing their Canadian citizenship tests through our citizenship class.
As we look ahead to the coming year, our priorities revolve around expanding our newcomer program offerings and launching our innovative newcomer program centered on digital equity and practical skills development.
